In Wave 4, Richard Poe brings up a fact that I have never considered: the meaning of the word “job”. He quotes economists James Dale
Davidson and Lord William Rees-Mogg who claim, “ The twenty first century will see the death of jobs as we know them.” The author goes on to explain that it has only been the past few generations that considered a job a permanent form of income. In days goes by, a job was a task that had a beginning and an end. For instance you may be paid to repair a wagon wheel and once that wheel was repaired, the job was over.
Our modern view of a job came with the industrial revolution. Suddenly there were assembly lines always running, always needing manning. The task never ended, therefore the job didn’t either.
The job market today is not governed by the industrial revolution however. We are in the beginning of the Information Age. It is the Information Age that is molding the current employment situation. The Information Age is making jobs no longer permanent. The Information Age is taking jobs back to the day when they were simply tasks that had a beginning and an end.
The Information Age is ushering in at light speed and changing the economic landscape just as quickly. Obama and McCain cannot stand in the way of this force. No politician can change what is happening. We can only adapt.

I don’t care what the business is you must be willing to invest a significant amount of time especially at first to get your business going. If your business is online, realized starting an online business may be just as time consuming as a brick and mortar store. Your time will be spent building your site, finding content, choosing what to market, and the most time will be spent advertising in order to drive traffic to your site. After you build up a large tribe, you will have more time and you will make money while vacationing in Hawaii. Just don’t expect that this will happen without a significant time investment for a minimum of 6 months to 2 years.
looking for a secondary income source, while others desire to be home with families and have more free time to spend. Many have a dream to build huge residual income checks with their side business so that they will never need to work again. All are noble reasons to desire a home-based business, but unfortunately they can lead you to being sucked into any of the following lies that are perpetuated about working online…
